An Army Combat Veteran, a classically trained chef from Johnson & Wales, and a holder of a Masters Degree in Marketing from Johns Hopkins University, Thomas brings a unique blend of military discipline, culinary creativity, and strategic marketing expertise to his role as the driving force behind Kennel to Couch.

Kennel to Couch

The genesis of Kennel to Couch lies in a chance encounter with a stray Pit Bull on a warm spring day in 2014. Unfamiliar with the breed and burdened by misconceptions, the Bohne family found themselves faced with a decision about what to do with the seemingly lost dog. Despite initial reservations and a full house with three dogs, they decided to bring the Pit Bull, who would later be named Rocky, into their home temporarily.

Rocky’s Impact on the Bohne Family:

Little did the Bohne family know that this decision would mark the beginning of a profound journey filled with love, joy, and transformation. Through Rocky, the family discovered the true meaning of unconditional love and witnessed the power of a Pit Bull’s affection. Rocky’s vibrant personality and boundless energy touched the hearts of everyone he encountered, challenging negative stereotypes associated with the Pit Bull breed.

The Tragic Loss of Rocky:

Rocky’s story takes a heartbreaking turn when, on February 23, 2018, he succumbed to Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia (IMHA), a devastating immune disease. The Bohne family’s grief was immeasurable, as they mourned the loss of a beloved companion who had not only enriched their lives but had also saved one of their own from cancer. The emotional toll was paralyzing, and the family struggled to cope with the void left by Rocky’s passing.

Transforming Grief into Action:

In the face of overwhelming sorrow, Thomas Bohne and his family found solace in a shared desire to honor Rocky’s memory in a meaningful way. Determined to focus on the joyous four years they had spent with Rocky rather than the painful final weeks, they conceptualized Kennel to Couch as a tribute to their beloved Pit Bull.

Kennel to Couch’s Mission:

Kennel to Couch, born out of love and loss, is a 501(c)3 organization dedicated to Pit Bull Adoption Advocacy. The organization collaborates with shelters and community partners to sponsor Pit Bulls in need of adoption. Once adopted, these sponsored dogs receive the K2C sponsorship benefits package at no cost to the adopting family. The initiative is not only a tribute to Rocky but also a commitment to dispelling misconceptions about Pit Bulls and facilitating their adoption into loving homes.

Thomas Bohne’s Leadership Philosophy:
